Another week has come and gone! Monday we had dinner with the Gray's and then had FHE with them and the Hafen's! That was fun! and then Tuesday we went to the food pantry! Lots of chicken to bag and freeze! and blueberries! So that was exciting! then we did Mormon.org and then came home and we were doing our studies and then there was a knock at our door! It was Marsha and Helmar! They wanted to take us to the beach! So we went with them to York and walked on the beach for a little bit and then went and got ice cream :) Then we went to the Hafen's and dinner with them and Kristy and her little girl :) Wednesday we went to district meeting and then went to Orange Leaf with the sister training leaders :) Then we came back, did bingo and then had bible study that night and also did a little street contacting! Thursday we walked to some less actives and then did some street contacting! Then we went and had dinner with Brenda and some of her friends! She made us a traditional English dinner! and then after that we went to the Grays and had a lesson with Steve! Talked about prophets and commandments :) He's still doing great and hoping to get his work schedule worked out soon....
Friday we did weekly planning and then we went and saw the Foggs! Then we didn't really have any set things so we decided to head out to Durham and went and contacted a referral and then went and met a new family the Crosby's that moved in a few weeks ago! Then we decided to treat ourselves and went to Olive Garden for dinner :) Saturday we did some street contacting in Portsmouth and we met a few really cool people that seemed interested! So that was really exciting! planting seeds.....! Then we tried to see some less actives and then went and saw Larry with Mary! Then we went to the Foggs and visited with them for a little bit and then we had some more time and decided to call Bro Turley! His wife is not a member and has had missionaries over before but isn't very interested...but we thought we would give it a try! he said we could stop by so we went and shared a message with them! She still doesn't seem too interested but one day she will! Brother Turley was so cute though...he said it's the end of the month and you know what that means... Then he gave us two grocery bags full of food and snacks! haha :) then we went home and had dinner and then worked on updating records for the last bit of the night! Sunday we had church and choir practice then lunch and then we went and saw Brother Momna! We sat out on his porch and he talked and talked! He has some good stories! This time he got it back on topic and told us his version of Joseph Smith and the first vision :) It was fun how he would tell it and talk about the "wicked white light" that Joseph saw and he just had all these details and then we would just help him fill in the parts he had forgotten or names of people :) He told us that he really enjoys us coming over and that we are softening him and he knows he needs to come back to church! :D ahhh! that was awesome! I asked him how we could help him and he said he's just stubborn... so we're gonna get him there soon :)
So that was our week! We are still trying to find more people to teach! It's a little slow goin...and our whole district is kind of having a hard time with finding investigators and productive things to do... I've been studying about patience and about waiting on the Lord and learned some really cool things! Patience is something that I think is hard for most everyone...it's definitely hard for me and is something I've been working on for a while and trying to have more of! I found a cool quote about patience "Patience is a purifying process that refines understanding, deepens happiness, focuses action and offers hope for peace." I like that it says that it's a process! Patience takes patience...haha but then thinking about that and waiting on the Lord and going along with having a hard time finding people and knowing that it's gonna take patience it's really helped studying about it and remembering again that we are at least planting seeds and we just have to do the best we can even if we don't see the fruits of our labors! I found a talk from Elder Hales called "Waiting Upon the Lord: Thy Will Be Done" and it talked a lot about patience and then something stuck out to me as it talked about waiting on the Lord. It said that in the scriptures wait means to hope, to anticipate and to trust. So it requires faith, patience, humility, meekness, long-suffering, keeping the commandments, and enduring to the end. It requires that we do something! We can't just sit around doing nothing but waiting, we have to do our part of course! But then I thought about the word wait and other meaning that it can have and thought of a waiter in a restaurant and how they wait on us and serve us food.... so thinking how it tells us to wait on the Lord we need to serve him! It just gave me a new perspective as I read through the talk again and whenever it said to wait on the Lord I thought about it saying to serve the Lord. It talked a lot about the Savior and how he did God's will. He waited upon his Father. He was always serving others! and it's said in the scriptures "inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." So as we serve those around us we are serving God and waiting upon Him! I love the scripture Psalms 27:14 that says "Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: Wait I say on the Lord." I know that it may take time and patience and a lot of work but we will find those who are being prepared! I know that he will strengthen us and give us the courage we need even when things are hard and we have to wait.... we just have to look at it in a different way and truly wait on the Lord, love Him and serve Him and
rust in Him. :) Love you lots! Have a wonderful week and just wait til next Monday ;)
